lute) edited by Mathias Roesel.
This previously unknown manuscript from the noble household of the German family
Sayn-Wittgenstein-Hohenstein is published here for the first time.
The text-section of the book: - "Principia der Laute"
contains comtemporary explanations on how to perform graces. The music-section
contains 102 pieces for the eleven-course baroque lute, dating until 1720.
Named composers are Ebner, Kühnel, Losy, and Meusel, besides many anonymous pieces.
Concordances and incipits were compiled by Markus Lutz and Peter Steur.
The moderate level of difficulty makes it a treasure trove for lovers of
the baroque lute. Introduction and explanations in both German and English.

This manuscript, now housed in the
Bavarian States Library, may be written probably about 1738 -1750, and
is very
well known among scholars but has never been published in facsimile
before. It
contains 52 anonymous pieces and
79 named pieces for Baroque lute.
You find
pieces by Kühnel, Hoffmann, Falckenhagen, Lauffensteiner, Kropffganss,
Schauer, Hasse,
Baron and Silvius Leopold Weiss (33 pieces) and his brother
Sigismund Weiss..
The editor, reknowned scholar Frank Legl, has written an
extensive introduction and full concordances as well.

Augustinean Monastery
of Klosterneuburg in Austria,
written in the early 18th century,
has 113 pieces in French tablature for 11 course Baroqe lute, mainly
from the Austrian and Bohemian repertoire.
The pieces have been newly typeset and
grouped into Partitas by the editor,who has added a very thorough study
of the manuscript, the music and its composers as well.
